“O God, help us to believe the truth about ourselves, no matter how beautiful it may be”

Reflections – 10/20/2023

A shorter reflection today, but these are the things I have been learning these past couple of weeks about Yahweh, others, and myself:

Yahweh: I have been finding it interesting for a long time that scripture continually describes things like righteousness, truth, mercy, salvation not only as concepts but also as a person – the Incarnated God that is Jesus Christ. And if these things are not just concepts or ideas to try to comprehend or even to argue about, but also a breathing, living person, what does this mean for us living in relationship with others?

Others: It is not enough to not offend people, or not do bad things to people in general, but it is also necessary to celebrate people as well. People need to be celebrated. Even the first of Jesus’ miracles was a celebratory one – bringing more wine into a wedding.

Myself: I feel like I am getting many signs to be slowing down in life, not only physically but emotionally. Work and school has progressively become more stressful as the weeks go by, and it is becoming more difficult for my mind to slow and quiet down as quickly when I need to, such as when I am trying to fall sleep. I have been tripping and falling and injuring my body lately because of literally moving too fast while being distracted.
