“O God, help us to believe the truth about ourselves, no matter how beautiful it may be”

Getting to know myself – prompt 35

Getting to know myself – prompt 35

Today’s prompt from Onsite is “How do you feel you could best balance togetherness vs. intimacy among your circles of community?”

This question came off as a little confusing – but as I thought about it a bit more, perhaps togetherness is more so a sense of unitedness, and intimacy has more to do with relational closeness. It’s interesting that this prompt is distinguishing the two, as if it is is possible to have too much togetherness or intimacy (which at that point I don’t know if they would still be called “togetherness” and “intimacy” anymore. In any case, I’m not sure how to answer this question. The only things that really come to mind is that there are only a small handful of people that I would prefer to have some level of intimacy with, and that the only community I can think of where I can really contribute to any kind of togetherness is perhaps my community at work (if you could really call it that) and then my community at church. At church I could perhaps take more effort and go out of my way more to chat with people, but I notice that being married, it’s easy to stay comfortable with my husband, so I suppose that is something to note with regards to overall church community together-ness
