“O God, help us to believe the truth about ourselves, no matter how beautiful it may be”

Day 7 – Norway city day !

Day 7 – Norway city day !

We had read on the weather app that it would rain later in the afternoon, so we wanted to do some city exploring earlier in the day and do laundry later. We had all hoped to hang out in a coffee shop together, but it didn’t have the pastries that my husband and his brother wanted, so I stayed at the coffee shop while they went to search for their pastries because I really wanted to read in a cute coffee shop.

Here first are the photos we took up to the coffee shop area though:

And this was the coffee shop I chose ! I think translated it means “The Little Coffee Company” (?). I got a latte and a very delicious carrot cake, and stayed here for a little under an hour and then walked around the city on my own:

I then started wandering around the Bryggen area which was sooo surprisingly charming:

I also reached a park at the top of the neighborhood that had a fountain and views of the city (which I already shared above actually):

There was also this seagull chilling in that park that I thought looked cute because it had no neck unlike our American seagulls :

I also found a yellow and a black snail which I had never seen before:

I then started making my way down to the more historic district where there were some older buildings by the harbor:

There were lots of shops in this area, and troll folklore was pretty much everywhere:

I ended up buying these beautiful impressionist-like post-cards of Bergen to keep as souvenirs:

I also wanted to find authentic lefse, ideally in a shop, but that felt impossible. I ended up finding a bunch at a local grocery store:

After I returned to the AirBnB, my husband and I wanted some Norwegian salmon but did not want to pay $40-$50 USD a plate (it is so expensive to eat out in Norway). So we ended up finding some salmon at a store and baked it ourselves, it was very tasty:

Here are the remaining miscellaneous photos from that day:
