Day 8: Bergen —> Reykjavík

I was so sad to leave Bergen! It was my favorite part of the trip. I wanted to make sure that I got nice photos of our AirBnB before we left:

When we arrived at the airport while we were waiting to board, I picked up this very tasty pistachio bread as I actually saw this kind of bread all over the city:

There also happened to be this nice, open lounge area with lots of natural sunlight that was free for everyone to use ! So we decided to hang out in this more peaceful area of the airport to wait for our flight:

And I got some moody photographs from that lounge area too:

When we finally arrived at the Reykjavík airport, there was this giant dinosaur egg or something of a statue:

For this leg of the trip, we planned to have the rental car the whole time as we would need it to drive around the island, so we picked it up pretty much immediately after claiming checked luggage. This was one photo I took on the drive over to our AirBnb where I noticed there were actually trees in Iceland (in kind of a joking way, I did not know if there were trees in Iceland):

When we arrived at the AirBnB, the host left us a sweet note and chocolate ! We also found out that they worked in the tourism industry so we got lots of good tips from them:

We then headed off to the grocery store to get breakfast and lunch items, as Iceland is notoriously known for being incredibly expensive to eat out. We heard the budget store was Bónus, where their mascot was a pink piggy bank, so I took photos of their pink cake at the front of the store:

We did not travel out this day as we were actually about a 10 minute drive from the city center, so after getting food we just rested at the AirBnB. It was actually at this time that that I started not feeling well, but I think it was largely due to allergies. I started feeling a little bit of the allergies on our last full day in Norway, but they got pretty bad as we headed into Iceland where the cold air made it worse. So because of that, I ended up going to bed really early at 9:00 pm.
